History of Christianity

How did a motley band of disciples grow to become the world's largest religion? Has the church always been dogged by controversy and schism? By looking at the past, can we discern some of the ways that God works in the world, and perhaps also the ways that human beings impede that work?

In remembrance of me (Last Supper) FCD's History of Christianity course is based on Justo Gonzalez' two-volume set, The Story Of Christianity. For the more ambitious student who wishes exposure to primary sources, there are optional reading assignments each week in Bettenson and Maunder's Documents of the Christian Church.

Mentor's Aids for this course include a list of "Discussion Starters" that evoke summarization of historical events and provoke reflection on implications for 21st century Christians.
