Note on the use of commemorations

Additional note for 2001: Beginning last year, we started following the use of colors shown on the Ashby Ordo Kalendar which provides a richer set of weekday commemorations along with their appropriate liturgical color, especially during the long periods of ordinary time folowing Epiphany and Pentecost. Colors for Sunday's continue to follow the use appointed for the season or major holy day.

The instructions for "The Calendar of the Church Year", which includes instructions for the proper use of commemorations listed in the calendar, are found in the Book of Common Prayer beginning with page 15. Read About It Generally speaking, commemorations are not used for any Sundays, Holy Week, & Easter Week.

Given that our purpose for including commemorations is instructive, rather than liturgical, we have taken the liberty to include all commemorations on their appointed day, or other convenient day in the event of conflicts or overlap. For the same purpose, commemorations are imported to open days from the calendars of the Lutheran, Orthodox, and Roman Catholic traditions.

We sincerely hope you will find our inclusion of commemorations from the church calendars enjoyable and useful. Feedback is always appreciated. To that end you may EMail webmaster Andy Figueroa anytime.
